Chic Potting Shed

This 600 sq. ft. glass walled potting shed is described as a 'chic shed'.  Since it's owned by Georgia garden designer, Suzanne Hudson, it could be called a 'chic she shed', as this is where Suzanne loves to putter, pot and prune.

On rainy days, she loves to just curl up and peruse her gardening books.  And with comfy wicker chairs, a table for two, mood lighting and pretty vignettes everywhere, it's also a perfect place to entertain her friends for a visit and a glass of wine.

For three years, Suzanne gathered and collected 139 old windows and five sets of french doors.  She also designed the shed herself, personally planning which window would go where.

Using Benjamin Moore's 'Tarrytown Green' paint pulled it all together and allows it to blend beautifully into the surrounding space.

What a very creative lady and fabulous backyard getaway!

Salvaged door turned into trumeau mirror.

These oil lamps, along with hanging lanterns, turn the shed into a magical space at night.
It must be simply dreamy with the night lights!

Fall Al Fresco Dining

Hi again everyone,

We are having a spectacular fall here in Charlottetown with summer like temperatures.  Our leaves have not begun to turn color yet, which usually doesn't take place until October, around our Thanksgiving.

While walking our dog today, I met two people on our street who were visiting from a cruise ship and travelling to our east coast for the first time from Brisbane, Australia.  They were hoping to see 'more color' in the trees, but I'm afraid they were just a tad bit early for that.  They did, however, love what they were seeing here in Old Charlottetown and the east coast in general as they cruised from Montreal to Boston.

With such amazing fall weather, I couldn't help but think what a perfect opportunity it is to enjoy some al fresco dining.........

These ideas have certainly inspired me and I hope they will do the same for you.......even without the colorful leaves, we have a bounty of beautiful fruit, gourds, pumpkins, flowers, tartans and dishes to produce some delightful table settings.

Enjoy!

Rooms in Bloom

Good morning, Everyone!

It's a bit overcast here this morning, so I immediately thought of colorful flowers as a pick me up.......which led me to my pinterest boards to pick out some of my favorite rooms in bloom.

Most of these rooms have been done by a bevy of the world's best designers.  Some are from years ago and some are contemporary. Most of these rooms are very, very traditional and some are what is referred to as new traditional.

And all are gorgeous, charming and all enveloping!

Enjoy!

I fell in love with this room back in the 90s when I first saw it in Traditional Home and I still love it!
Designed by Gary McBournie.

The bedroom of Daniel Romauldez.

The New York living room of the late Mark Hampton and Duane Hampton
Since renovated.  Isn't it scrumptious?  Like stepping into a flower garden!

A cottage bedroom!

A contemporary bedroom by Cathy Kincaid......just lovely!

The living room of Oscar and Annette de la Renta.....beautiful!

Anthony Baratta's skilled design.

And Charlotte Moss' bedroom.

What a cheerful living room!  Love the shades of pink!

When My Baby Dreams

I saw Adele Enersen being interviewed on The Today Show this morning and fell in love with her creativity.

Now expecting her second child, this very artistic Finnish mother said she missed her baby Mila so much when she was sleeping, she began watching her and moving items of clothing around her as she slept to create small scenes.  Using old socks, sweaters, scarves, books, flowers and whatever else she can put her hands on around the house, she comes up with the most charming scenes.

Her first book, When My Baby Dreams, has just been published this month and she is already working on a second book.

Enjoy!
